Just awful! They’ve changed ownership and completely changed the menu, both are dismal. We were loyal customers, I will NEVER go back
The service was slow. It took a long time four our order to be taken. There were only about 2-3 other groups in the dining area when we arrived, and only 2-3 people at the bar. It took about 30 minutes to get our food after ordering.
To begin - the red Beans & Sausage, while having a good flavor was a very small portion. Fried okra was okay, but not hot, almost cold.
That pretty much sums it up, however, to go into more detail:
We won't be back. $30 for a meal that didn't fill either of us up, and left us wishing that we would have gone elsewhere due to the issues with the food quality. Do yourself a favor, and find somewhere else to go.
We ordered Red Beans & Sausage, and the Jerk Chicken. Our sides were fried okra, and the Cheddar Grits.
Small Portions, Slow Service
The fried catfish po boy, chicken and sausage gumbo, and catfish and shrimp dinner were delicious!!! The chargrilled oysters were very small and tough with no flavor.
Go spend your money somewhere that the waitresses aren't hired based on looks... i cant believe how bad it is.. i tried to get tje attention of several of tje staff to no avail... the old dude that got me a beer needs some help....last couple times in have sworn off, with this review, I will spread the word.. wasnt even busy
The food was AMAZING! We intended to go to J. Alexander's but the wait was too long and this was a perfect substitute. The service was quick and everyone loved their food. I had the seafood gumbo which was really good, the fried shrimp and shrimp po' boy was amazing. My nephew and brother had the wings which they really liked. The fried green tomatoes were also good. The have great french fries and mashed potatoes were to die for. Best thing about this place was the affordability for quality seafood.
The Jerk Chicken was pretty sad. It's supposed to be served with white rice, and it was, but the amount of rice was the amount someone could grab with their hand, (a small handful). The chicken consisted of about 3 strips of chicken, that appeared to have been left on the grill about 10 minutes too long. There was no flavor to the chicken other than that of char. It was served with a sauce that could only be described as "way overpowering" even a slight dip into the sauce overpowered anything you put into it. The cheddar grits had the consistency of mashed potatoes that have been left to dry on a plate for a few hours, and tasted of absolutely nothing -- essentially flavorless mush.
